The recent Government announcement of the need to secure Britain against potential terrorist attack has increased the awareness of standards like PAS 68 which provides strict guidelines of the type of physical security equipment available to protect people and places against potential vehicle bomb attack.
ATG Access, manufacturer of high security and counter-terrorist bollard systems was involved in the testing programme which led to the publication of PAS 68 and is one company keen to ensure people do not “panic buy” security equipment in the wake of the government announcement.
Ray Barnett of ATG Access tell us “It is vital to ensure that all equipment purchased is fit for purpose and up to the job required, there are various levels of security requirement and the specification will depend on numerous factors” Ray adds, “It is vital that people go through a procedure of ensuring they are getting the right equipment to the right specification which conforms to the right standards”.
ATG Access have a bollard to meet every level required and have products impact tested at 30, 40 and 50mph with vehicles ranging from 7.5 tonne up to 18 tonne. The latest addition to the product family is a fixed bollard that will dead-stop a 7.5 tonne truck travelling at 50mph – the foundation of the bollard is just 150mm.
This shallow mount technology will prove invaluable in Towns and Cities around the world as it removes the problem of encountering underground services when installing physical security.
