Newey & Eyre offers comprehensive Services and advice on sustainability

Sustainability has been an industry hot topic for some time and as it looks likely that this trend will continue, leading electrical wholesaler Newey & Eyre wants to ensure the marketplace is aware of its obligations and provides the information their customers need. To help contractors Newey & Eyre has produced an easy to use guide and a dedicated area on their website for customers wanting to find out more about the regulations, as well as a free helpline offered in conjunction with partner EEF (the Engineers Employers Federation), which gives independent legal advice on all WEEE related matters.

The emphasis of sustainability is focused on the way every company and individual impacts on the environment, from energy efficiency to resource consumption, right through to reducing transportation requirements and pollution prevention. Newey & Eyre realises the electrical industry is now playing a pivotal role in delivering a low carbon future - whether it is the migration to electric heating and hot water in new builds, improving lighting efficiency or the introduction of smart controls.

Newey & Eyre is keen to make sure that it plays an active role in ensuring all sustainability aims are met, apart from publishing information booklets such as the guide to energy efficient lamps for domestic and non-domestic premises, they have also been stepping up to the mark with their recycling services. The company is fully licensed not only to handle WEEE waste but also collect it from site. If required this can then be traced all the way to its end destination.

Newey & Eyre is offering a free* WEEE and lamps recycling service at selected branches. This allows contractors to simply return old WEEE products and lamps to the nearest branch where Newey & Eyre will take the products, issue all relevant statutory paperwork and arrange for them to be recycled. This service applies for all electrical products so it covers not only Newlec products but also takes account of other producers’ items.

The leading electrical wholesaler also offers a direct recycling service on lamps and tubes, which incorporates a free uplift service from customers’ own sites, (subject to a three year agreement for all qualifying customers). Lamp/tube containers can be purchased or rented from Newey & Eyre who will arrange for these containers to be installed and then emptied. Alternative options are available for ad hoc lamps recycling for customers not wishing to commit to an agreement or who do not qualify.

A competitive direct recycling service from customers’ sites is also available for general WEEE waste, again simply purchase or rent WEEE containers by contacting Newey & Eyre.

Luke Biddle, marketing manager at Newey & Eyre, says: “The WEEE legislation can be a bit of a minefield and we are keen to provide all the services and information possible, to ensure all obligations are met and fully understood.”

Newey & Eyre has over 20,000 product lines in stock at any one time, holding more major brands than any other electrical wholesaler.
